I’m about 10,000 words into After Image and I have to say I’m more excited about it than the last two. I think its got a hook that’ll bite a lot harder. Listen Closely is a slow burn descent into a male protagonist. November Sunrise is a character driven crime procedural manhunt.
After Image is a copycat killer revisiting the worst week in my Detectives career, and they need to stop it before the fourth kill. It’s got high stakes, the character drama, the new city, and the built in ticking clock. With bodies dropping every couple chapters it’ll grip with each one reminding Mercer more and more of what happened before.
It’ll stand alone for cold readers and hopefully an agent that’ll love it, and my betas that have been in on the first two will feel the weight of everything crashing in.
Speaking of which betas are out for November Sunrise now and I’m excited to see how they take it. The book club should be finishing Listen Closely within two weeks.
